SolSeed and Religion

"How is it that hardly any major religion has looked at science and concluded, 'This is better than we thought! The Universe is much bigger than our prophets said, grander, more subtle, more elegant!'"
- Carl Sagan, Pale Blue Dot
"The truth is, preparing for interstellar travel and then sending out ships filled with colonists is bound to be a job so long, thankless, expensive, and difficult that I suspect that only a religion could do it. A lot of people will find ways to make money from it. That might get things started. But it will take something as essentially human and as essentially irrational as a religion to keep them focused and keep it going--for generations if it takes generations."
- Octavia Butler, Parable of the Talents

One of SolSeed's goals is to prove the above quote to be about half wrong. SolSeed is not a religion, but it has some things in common with the world's religions: it provides some ideas of how people can live together in harmony (through the SolSeedCreed and SolSeedAnthropology), while looking forward to the almost spiritual Destiny of acting as seeds to spread Life to other worlds. The ideals and goals of SolSeed ought to be integratable without conflict into any kind of faith.
